Just west of Türkler, at Avsallar, İncekum is known for its fine golden sand and for pine forest that runs almost to the water. The nature park behind it has shaded picnic spots. Go early in summer; by midday the sand gets very hot.
A short drive inland from Okurcalar, Alarahan is a stone caravanserai built in 1231 by the Seljuk sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I, the last stop for Silk Road caravans before the sea. Alara Castle sits on the steep rock above the Alara river. The climb is rough: wear proper shoes and take water.
About half an hour east by car or dolmuş (minibus), Alanya's castle walls wrap around the whole peninsula. The octagonal Red Tower (Kızıl Kule) by the harbour was built in 1226, also under Keykubad I. Late afternoon is the best time for the views from the top.
In Alanya town, the small Damlataş cave was discovered in 1948 and is famous for its humid, steady air. Cleopatra Beach starts right beside it, a long sandy beach you can combine with the castle in one day.
Türkler is a small, relaxed place. In season the shops stay open late, so many guests go to the beach in the day and come to the bazaar after dinner. We are open every day from 09:00 to 23:30.
If you want to shop for leather bags, shoes or clothing while you are here, we offer free hotel pickup and return anywhere from Alanya to Side. Look as long as you like; there is never any pressure to buy.
